Terms of Use

Effective and last updated: August 2, 2026

These Terms govern your use of Lockeigo. The application provider is Yohei Ueda (“Provider”). By downloading or using Lockeigo, you agree to these Terms. Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. If these Terms conflict with mandatory consumer law or the Standard EULA, the mandatory rule or applicable Standard EULA provision controls.

1. License and acceptable use

You receive a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Lockeigo on Apple devices you own or control, subject to Apple’s Usage Rules. You must not misuse the service, bypass access or purchase controls, interfere with security or delivery systems, introduce malicious code, scrape infrastructure, infringe another person’s rights, or use learning content for an unlawful purpose. Restrictions on reverse engineering apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law and open-source licenses.

2. Your cards and learning data

You retain responsibility for text you enter. Do not enter content that is unlawful, infringes intellectual property, violates privacy, or contains secrets or sensitive personal information. Local learning data can be lost when the app or device is deleted, reset, damaged, or changed. Lockeigo does not currently provide account-based backup or synchronization.

3. Live Activities, Widgets, notifications, and speech

Live Activities, Widgets, notifications, background refresh, and speech depend on iOS, device settings, network conditions, Apple services, and system resource limits. They are educational aids provided on a best-effort basis. Continuous display, exact timing, delivery, pronunciation accuracy, and uninterrupted availability are not guaranteed. Use the in-app stop button to withdraw automatic Live Activity consent.

4. Lockeigo Plus

Lockeigo Plus is offered as monthly and annual auto-renewable subscriptions. Both periods provide the Plus feature set, which may include higher card limits, spaced repetition, daily planning, on-device insights, continuous speech, additional organization options, themes, fonts, custom colors, icons, and notification controls. The exact price, currency, period, trial eligibility, trial length, and renewal terms shown in Apple’s in-app purchase confirmation at the time of purchase control.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account when Apple confirms the purchase. Unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period or trial where Apple requires that timing, the subscription renews automatically. Manage or cancel it in Apple Account subscription settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Refunds and billing disputes are handled under Apple’s rules and procedures. Canceling normally preserves access until the paid period ends.

5. Free plan and advertising

The Free plan may show third-party advertising inside eligible areas of the four main app tabs. Ads are not shown on the iPhone Lock Screen, in Live Activities, Dynamic Island, Widgets, notifications, review cards themselves, or the Plus purchase and subscription-management screen. Plus does not request or display ads. Advertising availability and content are controlled in part by Google and its partners.

6. External services

Lockeigo relies on Apple, Microsoft Azure, Firebase, Google Mobile Ads and consent services, RevenueCat, Google Forms, and Cloudflare Pages for the limited purposes described in the Privacy Policy. External services may be unavailable or changed. Their terms and privacy policies also apply to their processing and interfaces.

7. Intellectual property

Lockeigo, its original interface, branding, documentation, and software are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Third-party software, Apple system assets, and user-provided content remain subject to their respective rights and licenses.

8. Changes, suspension, and termination

The Provider may update, change, suspend, or discontinue features for security, legal, technical, or product reasons. Reasonable notice will be given for material adverse changes where practicable or legally required. Your license may terminate if you materially violate these Terms. Provisions that by nature should survive termination remain effective.

9. Disclaimer

Lockeigo is an educational support tool and does not guarantee learning results. To the maximum extent permitted by law, it is provided “as is” and “as available.” Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, remedies, or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under Japan’s Consumer Contract Act or other mandatory law.

10. Liability

The Provider is not liable for indirect or consequential loss to the extent such exclusion is permitted by law. Any limitation does not apply to loss caused by the Provider’s intent or gross negligence, or where limitation is prohibited by mandatory consumer law. For ordinary negligence involving a paid service, liability is limited to direct and ordinary damage within a reasonable relationship to the amount paid for the affected subscription period, except where mandatory law provides otherwise.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without excluding mandatory protections available to consumers. The Tokyo District Court will be the agreed court of first instance for disputes, except where mandatory law permits or requires another competent court. Before litigation, please contact the Provider so the matter can be reviewed promptly.

12. Changes to these Terms

Changes will be published on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes will be notified in a reasonable manner and consent will be obtained where required by Japanese law.
